There may be some profit taking today," one trader in Amsterdam said.

Among other products, Akzo is currently awaiting U.S.

approval for its contraceptive drug Implanon and hormone therapy drug Livial, and expects to submit sugammadex used in anaesthesia next year.

A new fertility product, Org 36286, is planned for submission in 2008 - a delay from 2007 - and a new contraceptive NOMAC/E2 is expected to be filed in 2009.

A filing for an insomnia treatment Org 50081 is planned in 2010 - a delay from 2008.

Akzo, one of Europe's last chemical-pharmaceutical hybrids, plans to list up to 40 percent of its pharma and animal health operations in the second half of 2006.

Investors welcomed the planned break-up of the group when it was announced last month, and Wilderbeek said Akzo now planned to demonstrate the potential of a promising drug pipeline that has been largely hidden inside the larger conglomerate.

"We've been able to unlock value.

Today we have six products either in Phase III (clinical trials) or in filing (for regulatory approval)," he said.

The State also alleges the Lilly Company marketed its drug to physicians for uses not approved by the FDA.

The State is seeking three times the amount Medicaid paid to the Lilly Company and compensation for all legal fees, in addition to the Lilly Company creating a fund to pay for all future injuries caused by the drug's use.
