Lilly posts 4th-qtr profit on lower tax rate... Sales of Strattera, Lillys treatment for attention deficit disorder, slipped 8 percent to $168 million, hurt by the recent placement of a prominent warning inside the packaging that it may increase risk of suicidal thoughts among children and adolescents. Sales of Lillys diabetes products rose 11 percent to $750 million, helped by the introduction of a new drug called Byetta and higher prices for older treatments. Sales of Alimta, a new treatment for lung cancer, rose 86 percent to $136 million. Injectable osteoporosis drug Forteo jumped 59 percent to $118 million, while sales of older treatment Evista rose 3 percent to $265 million. Cialis, the anti-impotence pill sold in p - ), rose 38 percent to $211 million. S - ) rival Viagra fell in the quarter, hurt by competition from Lillys longer-acting product. Lilly reaffirmed its 2006 earnings forecast of $3.10 to $3.20 per share, first delivered last month and excluding special items.
