The company said it expected fourth-quarter earnings to reach the high end of the 73-to-79-cents-a-share range.

Lilly also said it saw its 2005 adjusted per-share earnings at the top of the $2.80-to-$2.86 range.

Lilly estimated its net income for 2005 at the top of a range of $1.90 to $1.96 a share.

The company expects 2006 earnings of $3.10 to $3.20 a share, excluding any potential one-time charges or gains.The December forecast excluded second-quarter 2005 charges from product litigation over Lilly added that it planned to buy back about $500 million in its own stock.
